The course will help you to:
- understand the health and safety reps’ role;
- carry out the health and safety reps’ duties;
- be more effective in the role;
- understand the key rights of the health and safety reps;
- recognise the employer’s responsibilities on health and safety;
- organise members around health and safety issues;
- understand the key legal requirements for risk assessments, and the criteria used;
- be familiar with the UNISON approach to risk assessment;
- understand how risk assessment can be used as part of a workplace strategy for improving the health, safety and welfare of members;
- develop a risk assessment resource pack for use in your workplace and the union.
How the course will work
The course involves group work and discussion and is a good opportunity to network and share ideas and experiences.
