22 April 2026
Stephen Lawrence Day, held annually on 22 April, is a moment for reflection and a call to action – bringing communities together to inspire change and create a more inclusive society.
The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation: our 3 Cs – classrooms, careers, communities
We work to create opportunities for young people from under-represented backgrounds through education, career development, and community engagement. We use Stephen’s legacy to inspire a more equal future, with a growing focus on supporting young people into careers in areas such as architecture, the built environment and the creative industries.
Our theme for this year is “Every Future Needs a Foundation.
This reflects our belief that every young person, regardless of background, deserves the support, opportunities and networks needed to achieve their potential.
Help us spread the word by using our 2026 Social media toolkit to help spread the word about our goals at the Foundation.
If you have a large number of followers on social media, a personal video message could help us grow our presence and is always greatly appreciated.
Event Ideas:
- Hosting a community conversation or safe space discussion on equality and opportunity
- Running a youth workshop or creative session (e.g. art, design, writing, or “design your future” activities)
- Organising a local walk, sports activity or community gathering
- Sharing stories, messages or reflections on social media
- Holding a school or youth group assembly or discussion
- Partnering with other local groups to bring people together
Ways to engage to support fundraising
This year, we are also encouraging groups to take part in our The 22 Challenge – a fun and flexible way to get involved. Whether it’s completing 22 activities, a sponsored walk, a fitness challenge, or a creative project linked to the number 22, it’s a great team-building opportunity and a chance to raise vital funds to support our work with young people.
Corporate Dodgeball Tournament : Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation – event hosted by SLDF x Dodge club on 22nd April (evening) in central London. Enter a team and raise money for our projects at the Foundation!
Tell us what you are doing!
If you are planning something, we would love to hear from you; including the date, time, and a brief description. We may also be able to help promote your activity through our social media channels.
Thank you if you have already supported us in the past, and we hope you’ll be able to join us this year in marking Stephen Lawrence Day 2026.
