‘Roots to Routes’ – South Asian Heritage Month

UNISON celebrates South Asian Heritage month which is observed annually from July 18 – August 17. It celebrates the rich history, diverse cultures and significant contributions of South Asian communities.

The theme of this year’s South Asian Heritage Month is ‘Roots to Routes’. It recognises that we are all shaped by our roots and the routes travelled to get to where we are.

All are welcome, regardless of your own heritage or identity, as we come together to share  and listen to stories that reflect journeys from South Asia and the South Asian global diaspora.

We celebrate how South Asian heritage significantly impacts our UNISON activism and campaigning for equality and rights

11am – 12pm – Activist stories.

12.15pm – 1pm – A look at UK South Asian political activism.
