30 November – 1 December 2017
Conference Aston Meeting Suits (CAMS), Aston University, Aston Triangle, Birmingham B4 7ET
The seminar provides an opportunity for OT stewards from both health and local government to come together to discuss key employment relations and professional issues. The seminar will include presentations and a range of practical workshops to assist OT stewards in their trade union role, and will provide an opportunity for stewards to network in regional groups.
The seminar will include sessions on pay, apprenticeships, leadership, and the future of OT services.
Applications are particularly welcome from new stewards but please note that the seminar does not include training on the role of a steward, as all workplace reps should complete the foundation course for new UNISON stewards, ideally prior to the seminar.
Branches are asked to encourage their BAOT/UNISON OT stewards to attend. The cost of the venue and all materials will be met centrally. Branches are asked to cover the registration fee for each delegate’s accommodation, travel and food costs.
Information on the seminar agenda and topics for the workshop sessions will be reported in the regular BAOT Steward email updates as the programme takes shape.
In a survey of those who attended the 2016 seminar, 100% of respondents said they would recommend it to other BAOT stewards. In their own words:
