This course will help you to:

  • gain the knowledge and skills you need to effectively establish UNISON’s learning and skills agenda in your workplace;
  • support the work of others to achieve branch aims around learning and skills.

 

By the end of the course you  should be able to:

  • understand UNISON’s approach to lifelong learning in branches;
  • organise UNISON members, learning representatives (ULRs) around learning and organising issues;
  • support ULRs in carrying out their respective roles including mentoring, goal setting, team-building etc;
  • draw on positive examples of leadership;
  • negotiate learning agreements with employers;
  • work with learning providers;
  • practice key skills including leadership, team building and organising a branch.

 

How the course will work

The course involves group work and discussion and is a good opportunity to network and share ideas and experiences.
