How to support trade unions in Ukraine

27 May 2024 7:00pm–9:00pm

UNISON South Lanarkshire is sponsoring an online meeting to discuss how UNISON can support trade unions in Ukraine.

The branch has submitted motion 95 “Solidarity with Ukraine and its labour movement” for National Delegate Conference and it has been supported by the NEC and prioritised by UNISON Scotland for debate at NDC.

We are sponsoring this meeting to publicise the motion, build support for it at NDC, and to explore ways in which UNISON nationally and at branch level can offer practical support to our trade union colleagues in Ukraine. The meeting will be on Monday 27 May at 7pm. Speakers at the meeting include:

Olesia Briazgunova, International Secretary of Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine

Ivanna Khrapko, Chair Youth Council of Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine

John McDonnell MP

The meeting will be chaired by Stephen Smellie, NEC member from Scotland and UNISON South Lanarkshire Branch Secretary.

The branch has also agreed to support the latest appeal from Ukraine Solidarity Campaign to raise funds for essential fire and rescue equipment, as requested by the Ukrainian Fire and Rescue Workers trade union.
