EMERGENCY ACTION 10 JUNE: Migrant Workers Rally at Parliament
On Wednesday 10 June, UNISON members across the country are uniting in London to demand Fair Visas Now. This means:
- End exploitation—replace employer sponsored visas with a sector-wide scheme in social care.
- No retrospective application of thefive-year qualifying period – and recognition for the vital economic and social contribution of health and social care workers.
- Introduce a Fair Pay Agreement –establishsectoral bargaining to improve wages and conditions.
Since coming to the UK migrant workers in health and social care have held the care system together and kept communities safe. But the government plans to break its promise of a five-year path to settlement for workers and their families.
For months, UNISON members have lobbied MPs and made the case for fairness. But the Prime Minister and Home Secretary are still pressing ahead.
UNISON is done waiting quietly.
On 10 June, UNISON members head to Parliament Square, Number 10 and the Home Office to ensure migrant workers cannot be ignored. Join us.
