Like many other organisations, UNISON has had to cancel many of its conferences and meetings as a result of COVID-19.
But the UK’s biggest union has democracy at its heart and still wants its members to be involved.
With this in mind, UNISON’s Disabled members have organised a series of virtual events in place of their usual conference online – Disability Live! – 19 to 24 October.
These are the great webinars you will be able to attend if you sign up by 8 October:
• Monday 19th October 6-7pm – No going back to normal – Learning from the impact of Covid-19 on disabled people with Vicky Foxcroft MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Disabled People
• Tuesday 20th October 6-7pm Back to the workplace – staying safe from Covid-19 with Donna Rowe-Merriman, UNISON Acting National Secretary, Bruce Robin, UNISON Legal Officer and Katrina Murray, Lanarkshire health branch Health & Safety Officer
• Weds 21 October 12.30-1.30pm The future of social care with Graeme Ellis, National Disabled Members Committee, Liz Kendall MP, Labour Shadow Secretary of State for Social Care and Christina McAnea, UNISON Assistant General Secretary for Equalities
• Thursday 22 October 12.30-1.30pm Homeworking and disabled people: how Covid 19 could revolutionise the workplace with Joanna Vanderhoof and Neelo Farr, National Disabled Members Committee and Deirdre Costigan, UNISON National Officer for Disability Equality
• Friday 23rd October 12.30-1.30pm Black Disabled Lives Matter with Gloria Mills, UNISON National Secretary for Equalities, Marsha deCordova MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities and Rakiyia Suleiman, National Black Members Committee
• Saturday 24th October 3-4pm Organising disabled members in the region with members from Scotland, Greater London and South West regions – come and tell us about your region!
These events are only open to UNISON members. To attend Disability Live! you must be a disabled member of UNISON. This is in line with UNISON’s commitment to self-organisation for under-represented groups.In order to make Disability Live! as accessible as possible, please let us know if there are any adjustments you will need to allow you to take part in a virtual event.

The registration deadline is Thursday 8 October at 5pm.
Once you’ve been registered for the event, you will be sent an email giving details of the virtual sessions you can attend, so you can register for these individually. You can attend as many or as few as you like.
