COVID-19 update for registered professionals

Due to travel restrictions, some regulators are making changes to usual procedures. This includes some hearings taking place via video conference.

UNISON’s Professional Services Unit (PSU) continues to operate as usual during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring we are there for members.

If UNISON are currently supporting you through a professional investigation, your UNISON case officer will be able to help you understand the impact of any of the regulator’s changes on your case. There may be a delay to your case being resolved, as the regulator may not be able to obtain some information as part of their investigation.

If there is no restriction on your practice you should carry on as normal. By doing so you continue to demonstrate your ability to work safely and effectively. If you have an ‘interim conditions’ order in place, please speak to your case officer in the PSU team who will advise on next steps to take.

We recognise it’s a worrying time for everyone, and many of our members on a professional register may be asked to do things which fall outside of their normal area of practice. We want to ensure that you are supported during this difficult time and have additional access to advice if you need it. If you are worried about a specific professional matter during the pandemic and how it may impact on your registration or fitness to practice, you can contact us for advice by emailing UrgentPSUadvise@unison.co.uk and a member of our team will get back to you.

While you are caring for others, we will do our best to care for you.
