Spotlight on ULRs and AGM season
Union Learning Reps

ULR Handbook
The new Union Learning Representative (ULR) handbook is now available to order via the UNISON Catalogue and/or download PDF
It’s a great resource to learn about how to become a ULR, what the role involves and why it’s important. In it, you’ll find information covering:
- The role and rights of ULRs
- How learning fits into core union business
- Organising around learning
- Branch education teams
- Learning with UNISON College
ULR conference report
In November 2023 UNISON’s Union Learning Reps (ULRs) came from across the regions to attend the UNISON Centre for a dedicated event to gain knowledge and skills and meet other reps.
The key takeaways:
- ULRs are fundamental in supporting learning at work – which in turn supports members in developing new and further skills personally and professionally
- Learning is a key organising tool and is integral to UNISON’s organising priorities and campaigns
- The learning activities that ULRs support widen and increase participation in our union and the workplace
We have produced a summary report of the 2023 ULR Conference which has key details from the conference and can be accessed here
