The staffing review has been divided into two areas:
- Regional staffing review
- UNISON Centre staffing review
Both reviews began at the same time and the review is now entering its final phase.
The regional staffing review has now concluded; the report is still going through governance and costing processes. We are conducting a detailed assessment of how best to allocate staff to meet the needs of our members, support activist development, and strengthen our organising capacity.
UNISON’s central functions have evolved in response to operational demands but now require a unified, forward-looking approach. Preparing for the future means improving collaboration across staff teams and regions, managing shared responsibilities effectively, and increasing agility in a rapidly changing environment.
This review has been a major piece of work; we believe the outcomes will give UNISON a stronger, more resilient structure — one that enables growth, and helps us deliver even more for our members.
