Our public services are under major threat. Our members are working under extreme pressure and UNISON is actively campaigning for services and jobs. We are seeking an Area Organiser to recruit, organise and work on a range of time-defined projects to support our campaign. The project will focus on recruiting, retaining and organising members who work in public services.

About this job

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns in our branches, The Area Organiser will train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and stewards in representation and negotiation. 

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. 

Your office will be in Inverness. You will need to be able to travel within Highlands and Western Isles for meetings/training as required. The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours. Reaching members who work in public services can be challenging during “office hours” so the successful candidate may be required to work in the evening, early morning and occasionally at weekends.
