The Branch Support & Organising Fund Area Organiser is a new and exciting role designed to take UNISON’s organising objectives forward across the region.

The Social Care Organising Team will be based out of our Taunton regional office, but the post holder may be required to work across the South West Region as the project develops.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives within social care across the region, train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and/or regional activists.

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours and have the ability to travel in a flexible and timely manner across the South West Region.

Work will be “field” based, in and around member workplaces. Activity is generally within teams, but there will be some lone working. Some desk bound administrative work will also be required.

You will need to be able to travel within the geographical location of the region and possibly to London for meetings/training as required.
