About this job

The National Officer (Community) is an important role for the union, leading work on behalf of our members working in charities, not-for-profit organisations and housing associations. The National Officer’s role is to provide advice and guidance to the union including the lay member structures; to organise and deliver the Rule Book Conference and Service Group work programme; to provide leadership support and guidance to regions and branches; to undertake negotiations with employers and to represent the union with outside organisations, including in the media.

The post-holder will initiate and organise national campaigns to improve working life and conditions in the third sector. They will also provide support and assistance to regions and branches and advise regional officers on matters of national service group or sector policy.

The post-holder will also work constructively with leading lay members in the Community Service Group, working with members of the Community Service Group Executive.
