The Finance Department of UNISON are currently seeking two confident, highly motivated and dynamic Finance Managers on a permanent basis. The Financial Management Team (FMT) section is responsible for all the financial and management reporting across the organisation.
The role involves taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting to a wide variety of stakeholders with emphasis on added value and developing user friendly reports. Staff management in all its aspects will be a fundamental part of the role and in achieving and improving the quality of outputs to strict deadlines. Overall, responsibilities will also include ensuring that robust financial budgeting, planning and reporting systems, controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively; ensuring that the finance department meets strategic, operational, legal and professional requirements of the Union; providing a first class accounting, support and advisory service across the organisation; playing a key role in the development and implementation of the departments mid and long term IT and reporting objectives and drive improvements in operational performance; lead on a number of projects and initiatives covering issue across the Union.
The candidates will be a professional Accountant with a recognised CCAB qualification, post-qualification experience and a proven ability to manage financial and management accounting and reporting in a large organisation. As the role will be demanding, it calls for individuals who have strong staff management and team leadership skills, excellent knowledge and understanding of systems, experience in change management, the ability to communicate effectively and at all levels and be highly organised to meet the diverse objectives and targets to deadlines.
These appointments are permanent and based at the Head Office in central London (UNISON Centre). In return, the successful candidates will receive a competitive salary based on the current pay and grade structure, 32 days annual leave, 3 non-statutory days of annual leave which are taken when UNISON closes during the Christmas period, and benefits of a final salary pension plan as well as flexible working options.
