The UNISON digital communication team is seeking maternity cover for our Digital engagement officer. Working as a vital part of a small digital communication team, you will be responsible for the day to day scheduling and approval of our digital email communications programmes produced throughout the union. You will be experienced in commercial email CMS such as Upland Adestra and comfortable with account management, email quality control and approval processes.
You will need to manage an email calendar and negotiate our email schedule, dealing with requests from our many internal teams around the union. You will be comfortable with handling member data and familiar with the GDPR in relation to email communications. Your goal is to provide a continuity of service in scheduling and approving emails to be sent to our members as UNISON delivers the biggest digital transformation project in its history
Key Responsibilities
- Email Scheduling & Planning: Maintain and manage the email calendar, ensuring emails are scheduled effectively and avoiding overbooking on any given day. Liasing with our call centre to ensure suitable high volume emails are approved in advance.
- Campaign Execution & Compliance: Lead our email approval process, ensuring all emails meet GDPR compliance and internal quality standards.
- Copywriting & Content Creation: Write and refine key campaign emails, ensuring messaging is engaging, clear, and aligned with the union’s communication strategy.
- Platform & User Management: Work within our email CMS (e.g., Upland Adestra), managing accounts, user access, and ensuring the smooth operation of the system.
- Reporting & Performance Analysis: Provide reports as required on email performance, tracking key metrics such as open rates, engagement, and delivery success.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years experience with an enterprise email CMS (preferably Upland Adestra or a similar platform)
- Knowledge of GDPR and best practices for email marketing compliance.
- Strong copywriting skills, particularly for campaign emails and member communications.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, balancing scheduling priorities and approvals.
- Experience with email performance reporting, analyzing data to inform improvements.
- A proactive and organized approach to managing workflows and approvals.
