The Education and Children’s Services section deals with staff working across the education sector, including early years, schools, colleges, universities, careers services and associated employers.
Assistant National Officers (ANOs) support National Officers to develop campaigns. Their work includes: writing reports; providing research (including drafting and analysing surveys); producing materials; giving advice and guidance; organising training courses, meetings and other events; supporting the democratic structures of the union; and working with National Officers to negotiate with employers and governments. These activities are linked to the recruitment and organisation of members and representatives. ANOs also ensure the smooth running of committees and forums by preparing reports, briefings, agendas and minutes.
This fixed-term post would suit candidates who can write well, have experience in analysing information and statistical data, have an interest in education policy and workforce issues, have good communication skills including using social media, have well developed skills in relation to the use of online meeting and webinar platforms, and have the ability to work well in a team and to work to deadlines in a pressurised environment.
