About this job
Our public services are under major threat. Our members are working under extreme pressure and UNISON is actively campaigning for services and jobs. We are seeking a Local Organiser to recruit, organise and work on a range of time-defined projects to support our campaign. The project will focus on recruiting, retaining and organising members who work in the Local Government sector across Scotland.
The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning. Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a trade union or community organisation would also be desirable. You will also need to demonstrate a knowledge of trade unionism and our union’s values.
You will be based at any of our regional offices but you will be expected to travel across Scotland.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours. Reaching members can be challenging during “office hours” so the successful candidate may be required to work in the evening, early mornings and occasionally at weekends. UNISON has a range of policies to support a healthy work/life balance.
