Unison Labour Link sits at the heart of the union and is our political, lobbying and campaigning arm that seeks to shape and progress UNISON policies within the Labour Party.

The role oversees and manages our parliamentary work and is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing our political contacts and relationships at all levels of national, regional and local government and within the devolved nations. You will be responsible for managing and liaising with the UNISON Group of MPs.

You will manage a small team of political staff and oversee and coordinate the work of our regional political contacts. You will be the lead officer responsible for expert and specialist advice to our Labour Link Committee and will ensure the highest standards of lay governance.

Knowledge of the Labour Party and a commitment to its principles are essential as is knowledge of UNISON and its link with the Party.  As you will be UNISON’s representative within the Labour Party, you will have excellent representational, communication and people skills.

An ability to campaign for increased participation in the Labour Link and an awareness of recruitment and organising strategies is a vital part of this role as the union seeks to increase levy payers into the Labour Link Fund.  As part of our National Managers Group, you will also have strategic, financial and people management skills that are vital to building and growing our Union
