UNISON has invested in Microsoft365 and other new technologies which are central to how staff work, and our tools are changing more rapidly than in the past with new features being developed all the time. UNISON staff have very varied, untested IT skills and wants to obtain baseline skills data, maximise staff use of the technology and develop digital skills standards.

As part of this we are a seeking a temporary Digital Skills Officer to lead this work. This will be a specialist role within the Staff Learning and Development Department and work closely with the IT department too.

What you’ll do:

  • Be responsible for leading on assessing and enhancing the digital and M365 capabilities of our workforce.
  • Support the development of corporate standards for the use of our technology.
  • Lead on implementing the Digital Champions strategy.
  • Manage relationships with external providers to design and implement training programmes
  • Contribute to the national development of learning strategies and communicate this throughout UNISON.

The postholder will be able to hit the ground running and able to work on their own initiative. They should have experience of implementing an effective large-scale digital / IT skills audit or similar. They need high level communication skills to influence staff and senior leaders.
