About this job

Our public services are under major threat. Our members are working under extreme pressure and UNISON is actively campaigning for services and jobs.

We are seeking a part-time Local Organiser to recruit, organise and work on a range of time-defined projects to support our campaign. The projects will focus on recruiting, retaining and organising members who work across the Yorkshire & Humberside region. The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning. Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a trade union or community organisation would also be desirable. You will also need to demonstrate a knowledge of trade unionism and our union’s values. Your office will be in Leeds but you will be expected to travel across the Yorkshire & Humberside Region.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours. Reaching members can be challenging during “office hours” so the successful candidate may be required to work in the evening, early mornings and occasionally at weekends.

How to apply

To apply for this opportunity, please see the job description and person specification below and download and complete the Area and Local application form, and disability and recruitment monitoring forms (under “Documents”).

Please note that ONLY the Area and Local Organiser application form will be accepted.

The completed application form along with the Recruitment and Disability Monitoring Form should be sent by email to Y_Hpersonnel@unison.co.uk, quoting ref: R13/BSOF04

The closing date for completed applications is on Wednesday 29th May at 5pm

Interviews will be held on Thursday 13th June or Friday 14th June.
