About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and professional HR team in the UK’s largest trade union.

This role is the first point of contact with UNISON regions and departments and the successful candidate will provide informed, reliable HR advice and support to line managers and employees on the employee life cycle with a strong focus on employee relations.

You will be reporting directly into the Head of HR, while also being responsible for an HR Administrator.

About you

  • A strong HR generalist background.
  • Experience of operating in an environment where there is active trade union representation.
  • CIPD level 5 qualified or willing to work towards this.
  • Able to demonstrate effective knowledge of employment legislation and its application.
  • Experience of supporting on ER cases including sickness, grievances, disciplinary and performance.
  • Experience of coaching and supporting line managers through the management of staff and through the management of change.
  • The ability to effectively prioritise workload of competing demands, and to exercise discretion and preserve confidentiality.
  • The ability to problem solve with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including an attention to detail are essential.
