About this job

Assistant National Officers in the equality team work with National Officers to deliver UNISON’s equality work at a national level. They work on an ambitious programme of policies to address equality at work, in our union and across society.  They assist national officers in providing advice and guidance to the union; support recruitment and organising initiatives; and arrange meetings and seminars, including meetings of UNISON’s national equality committees.

You will need an understanding of the barriers faced by UNISON members in the workplace and how unions can help to overcome them.  You will have good presentation and communication skills and experience of producing reports and bulletins.  You will have an understanding of equality and democracy and be committed to the work of trade unions.

UNISON is committed to a healthy work/life balance.  This job involves occasional evening and weekend work and some UK travel. You will receive time off in lieu for work outside the usual working week.
