About this job

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns, train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and stewards in representation and negotiation.

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper.

A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential and an understanding of UNISON’s objectives would be beneficial.

You will be required to live within reasonable travelling distance of the area you are asked to cover.

The South East Region is currently recruiting a Permanent, Part Time and 3 Fixed Term Local Organisers to work with our Branches to co-ordinate and lead the union’s organising agenda across the Region. The successful candidates will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning.

To undertake this role you will need to be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of the Trade Union and Labour movement and UNISON in particular.

Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a TU branch or within a similar organisation would also be desirable.

You will need to be able to travel within the region and also possibly to London for meetings/training as required.
