The role of the Human Resource Officer is integral in progressing UNISON’s people management and workforce planning objectives. The post-holder will provide professional human resource and employee relations advice and support to UNISON’s managers on key areas such as compensation and benefit programmes, absence management, pension, recruitment, staff movement and new starters on-boarding set up and leavers.
The post-holder will be responsible in providing support to managers in addressing performance, harassment, grievance and disciplinary matters effectively in line with current employment law. They will take a lead role in the maintenance of the UNISON’s agreed pay and grading system and an advisory and interventionist role in the management of UNISON’s staffing establishment, providing relevant reports and analysis as required.
The post-holder will have the ability to problem solve with a proactive approach to finding solutions and have the ability to advise and communicate effectively. They will have experience of operating in an environment where there is an active trade union representative and negotiate and consult on day to day issues.
