UNISON requires a new Data Protection and Information Manager. This post will be based at our national centre and will be key to developing and improving UNISON’s data protection and information management provisions.
This varied and responsible role will include:
- managing data protection compliance and privacy best practice across UNISON’s offices and branches;
- development of UNISON’s data protection and privacy knowledge base;
- development and management of UNISON’s privacy training and awareness programme, including delivering presentations and facilitating both face to face and on-line training for a wide audience of lay and full-time officials in the regions, branches and in the UNISON Centre;
- working in partnership with the Member Liaison Unit with regard to subject access request processing;
- Managing the Data Protection Coordinator and Data Protection Administrator staff;
- assisting with developing and maintaining UNISON’s information strategy, and management of information lifecycles including physical items archiving, electronic records management and business continuity provisions
Communication skills are key, and the post holder will be a confident user of Microsoft Office and have first-rate IT skills. Knowledge and understanding of General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and Data Protection Act 2018, as well as experience of the challenges faced when implementing robust privacy arrangements in a membership organisation. The post holder will also have experience in establishing/maintaining information management systems.
