About this job

You will support the development and delivery of a range of learning programmes relevant to personal development, skills development and union organising, to help ensure that UNISON members have the skills and confidence they need to participate in adult learning, union activity and community activity. That includes giving relevant professional educational support to union staff and lay members at all levels, from the UNISON Centre to regions and local branches, and working in partnership with employers and educational providers.

With knowledge of adult learning in its various forms, workplace and community, formal and informal, and with a strong understanding of union organising, you’ll have the experience to enable you to develop, deliver and manage learning opportunities for key target groups. You will be well organised with the ability to work in a team and able to take lead responsibility for projects. You will have excellent communications, time management and IT skills.   Most important, you’ll be committed to integrating our aims, values and policies into all areas of our learning and organising work.

Whilst the Learning and Workforce Development Officer post is a generic role, post holders will have areas where they will take lead responsibility. This post holder will have lead responsibility for developing our member learning e-learning strategy and working with the Open University and other providers to support our partnership arrangements.

Travel across the UK with occasional weekend working and overnight stays will be required.
