About this job
As a proven leader with the confidence and presence to advise on women issues, women members and equalities at all levels. You will implement policies and promote women’s equality. This will involve an ambitious programme of policies to address women members, workplace and wider equalities and advising the union’s national executive committee. You will champion the needs of women members in UNISON developing initiatives to promote their recruitment into trade union membership and acting as lead officer to UNISON’s National Women’s Committee.
This is a high profile strategic role and you will need a thorough and specialist understanding of the barriers faced by women in the workplace and wider society and how unions can help to overcome them. You will also have the drive to develop and deliver effective campaigns and to assess their impact. You will be an articulate communicator, with the confidence to address a variety of audiences, from government ministers to national conferences and UNISON branches.
With extensive experience of current women members, organising and equality issues in either the public, private or voluntary sector, you will be committed to the work of trade unions.
