We are recruiting for the post of Press and Media Organiser to play a key role in delivering UNISON’s visibility and communications strategies to ensure UNISON can champion represent the views of our members effectively.

The post is based in our Eastern Region working out of our regional centre in Chelmsford.

The Press and Media Organiser plays a key role, working alongside the Regional Management Team you will help support regional organising staff and UNISON branches across the East of England, helping to develop and promote UNISON’s campaigns and provide press and broadcasting media support to staff and branches

We are looking for an individual with previous experience of working in media relations (both traditional and social media) with good knowledge and understanding of the media environment, excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt styles to suit different media and audiences, and the confidence to work flexibly in a small, busy team.

The role will include general media office duties (handling media enquiries, drafting material for a wide range of outlets), building and maintaining relationships with journalists, liaising with the national press office, managing social media outputs, and supporting and briefing UNISON spokespeople.
