About this job
The successful candidate will hold lead responsibility to support our members in Academy Schools across Doncaster and to contribute to other areas of our work.
You will work to recruit new members and to develop our organising capacity across a fragmented workforce; working closely with Branch Convenor colleagues and Regional Organising staff to increase density and to identify new activists. You will carry case-work responsibility and will have experience of supporting people in often challenging circumstances.
To be successful in this role you will be able to work flexibly both as a team member and with considerable autonomy. You will demonstrate an understanding of the challenges facing the Trade Union movement in an era of austerity and will have previous experience of recruiting, organising and campaigning within a similar organisation. Experience of the education and schools sector would be an advantage, although not essential.
You will need to be able to travel within Doncaster as required as well as being prepared to attend training events and meetings at UNISON’s Regional Office in Leeds and also London on an occasional basis.
