The RLDO will be based in UNISON’s North West Manchester Office but the job will require travelling across the North West region.

The Union Learning Fund  project is aimed at recruiting and training Union Learning reps, to promote learning especially maths, English and digital skills  to underrepresented groups; to support branches and employers to set up long term projects for supporting learners’ including apprentices and work with employers to achieve learning agreements. The successful candidate will identify and promote appropriate learning opportunities to work with UNISON members across the North West region.

You will support the development and delivery of a range of learning workshops and programmes relevant to personal development, skills for life development and the Union Learn Funds priorities particularly supporting learning opportunities for apprentices.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in Lifelong Learning and / or within a trade union setting and understanding and appreciation of the link between learning and union organising. Experience and knowledge of the Trade Union and the Union Learning Fund in particular is desirable but not essential.

With knowledge of adult learning in its various forms, workplace and community, formal and informal, and with a strong understanding of union organising, you’ll have the experience to enable you to develop and manage learning opportunities for key target groups. You will be well organised with the ability to work in a team and able to take lead responsibility for projects.
