About this job

The branch office is in Cardiff but this is an all Wales post – working arrangements will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Ymlaen is the community and voluntary sector branch in Wales. The branch has over 400 employers and 5,000 members, which are Wales wide.

This is the key organising role in the branch. It covers the areas of developing, organising and representation, and has responsibility to the branch executive committee.

The postholder will work in and across employers to build recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns; support the training and development of stewards; support branch communications; develop inactive employers and work where necessary to build organisation from scratch.

They will undertake some casework, but take a lead in advising, supporting and mentoring branch officers and stewards in representing skills and providing help with case preparation and administration. 

The postholder will develop specific branch wide campaigns and events; prepare information briefings to support organising or bargaining campaigns ensuring that they are distributed to branch members.

The postholder will support activists in collective negotiations, researching relevant agreements and data, making presentations and engaging with employers as required.
