UNISON South West is looking for an Area Organiser to join the Regional Secretary’s Organising Team, based in Taunton.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns across the region, train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and/or regional activists.

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. Part of the role will be to work on our press and media strategy as well as our online social media presence and ensuring our website remains current and engaging.

A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives.

You will need to be able to travel within the region for meetings/training as required.

You will be required to live within reasonable travelling distance of the area you are asked to cover.
