The National Officer’s role is to: provide policy advice and guidance to the union; provide leadership, support and guidance to national committees, regions and branches; research and write policy papers, undertake negotiations with employers and represent the union with outside organisations, including the media.
Your work will help shape our organisation at many levels, including leadership support across our regions and branches. Your influence won’t end there, as you’ll also negotiate with national employers initiate, organise and undertake campaign activities and you’ll have a positive impact on areas as diverse as recruitment and retention, research and European initiatives.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to organise work effectively, write well, prioritise proposals and activities and assess their financial implications. You will have excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of research. These skills will give you the credibility to deliver tangible improvements to members throughout the UK.
Travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays will be required.
