Promoting UNISON West Midlands Region in Labour

UNISON members have a very direct way of getting their message across to politicians - through lobbying. When you join UNISON you are given the opportunity to opt in to what we call the UNISON Labour Link (formerly known as the Affiliated Political Fund or APF). Your contributions to this fund help to facilitate our lobbying within the Labour Party. Meanwhile our General Political Fund supports local and national campaigns and is not affiliated to any political party.

The Regional Labour Link Committee is elected every year from the Labour Link Forum. The Forum is convened early each spring and is open to all Branch Labour Link members to send delegates, who must also be Labour Party members.

The Regional Labour Link Committee oversees the union's relationship with the Labour Party. In particular it sends delegates to the Regional Labour Party Board to represent UNISON's point of view. The Committee also oversees the links with various Labour MPs, receives reports and asks them to take up matters on behalf of UNISON inside the Parliamentary Labour Party.

Organisnig Labour Link all year round!

(11/03/2008)  An active year in the West Midlands Labour Link; pensions, fair and equal pay, elections, hope not hate to name a few, see its 2007 Annual Report
