    What we are doing now

    LG Strike & UNISON Welfare

(10/07/2008) UNISON Welfare is aware of the many pressures on UNISON members, especially those who will be striking for better pay this summer. However, by law and because we are a registered charity, UNISON Welfare cannot provide financial assistance to relieve hardship that may occur as a result of industrial action.

Farepak investigation report passed to lawyers

(29/05/2008) The consumer minister Gareth Thomas, announced to Parliament on 12 May that the government’s investigation into Farepak, the Christmas hamper company, by the companies investigations branch of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) had been completed. It is now “getting legal advice on whether there are grounds for further action.”

    Meeting challenges, making a difference

(13/05/08) UNISON Welfare has a positive story to tell but UNISON members are facing difficult times and we need to be prepared for the challenges as we approach our Centenary Year in 2010. This is one of the messages taken from UNISON Welfare’s National Seminar and Annual General Meeting held in York 2-4 May.
