Stop the BNP

The issues

Why are we campaigning?

The BNP has set its sights on 'representing' us in Europe. The election for the European parliament takes place on 4 June, when - because of proportional representation - the BNP will pose a very real threat. It is aiming to win at least one seat. UNISON is campaigning to ensure that this does not happen.

Racists - The BNP says the only 'native Britons' are white Britons. The BNP says white Britons should be given priority for jobs. That makes everyone else a second-class citizen.

Thugs - Crime statistics show racism is still alive and kicking in this country. Wherever the BNP wins seats, racist hate crime has increased. BNP members have been convicted of petrol bomb attacks, for racist and common assault, for violent disorder, for criminal damage, and for assaulting police officers. These are not nice people - in spite of their efforts to rebrand themselves as respectable. Do you really want them representing you?

Ruin our public services - Black and Asian workers do essential jobs in our public services. Without them, our NHS would collapse becauses 16% of nurses are black or Asian while 38% of all doctors working in England qualified outside Britain. Do you really want the NHS and other vital services to grind to a halt?

UNISON represents everybody. The BNP does not.

Vote to keep the BNP out on 4 June
You have the chance to send a clear message to the BNP: Keep out, you're poison. Use your vote to stop the BNP sowing its seeds of hate in our community. Use your vote to stop the BNP from destroying our democracy. Use your vote to protect our public services and the workers who provide them.
