There are plenty of very simple and accessible sources of information which will ensure that you can quickly and easily find any information that you are likely to need.
If you have a query on health and safety the Health & Safety Executive operate a free information line. Their helpful staff will try to answer any question, and if they cannot help immediately will pass your call on to a specialist. Simply call 08701 545500
There is also a lot of useful information on the HSE website at

The best simple guide is a free booklet called "An introduction to health & Safety" Although written for small businesses, most of it is very relevant to small and medium sized voluntary sector employers. It is available both on the HSE website or from HSE Books on 01787 881165 (ask for INDG259).
There is a Charity Safety Group which produces material for the Charitable sector. These are available from HSE Books. To get a catalogue of available books call 01787 881165.
The UNISON website has got guides or information sheets on over fifty topics from occupational health provision to lone working. They can all be downloaded free, and, although written for safety representatives, contain a wealth of useful information that will be of use to voluntary sector employers. UNISON's health and safety website is at
www.unison.org.uk/safety.
The TUC has a website which includes links to several other good sites, such as Hazards magazine. Go to
www.tuc.org.uk and click on "health & safety" in the box saying "choose a subject".
