Working Alone is a newly revised guide on lone working for safety reps and members. The guide has been developed to address health and safety concerns surrounding lone working. It makes it clear what is expected from an employer in terms of reducing the associated risks. The guide also contains a checklist which can be used to assess the steps taken by an employer.

Where non-medical staff are expected to carry out such duties, clear guidelines should be in place to protect both the staff and the child. UNISON has produced guidance to help safety representatives and stewards in their discussions with employers on this issue
