What is Fitness to Practise?

Fitness to practise involves more than just competence in a registrants chosen profession.

When a registrant is described as fit to practise this means the public should be confident the registrant has the necessary skills and knowledge to do their job safely and effectively.

The behaviour and level of skills and knowledge a professional registration body expects from a registrant are set out in their standards or codes of conduct.

The Fitness to Practise Department is responsible for investigating allegations against a registrant who may not meet the required standard of their profession.

For more information on standards or codes of conduct click on the professional registration body links below.
