(19/03/09) UNISON, the UK’s largest public sector trade union today welcomed the high court decision to clear the record of Amanda Jenkinson,* the Worksop nurse who was wrongly convicted of sabotaging a patient’s ventilator, and struck off the nursing register.
(02/03/09) On 21 January 2009 the House of Lords dismissed an appeal by the Department of Health against a court ruling that employees must have the opportunity to make representations before they are placed on the Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Protection of Children Act "provisional list."

(24/09/08) The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) are due to move from the criminal to the civil standard of proof for fitness to practise hearings. The Department of Health (DoH) plans to issue a Commencement order (instructions on how these changes should be introduced) and the latest projected date for implementation of the civil standard of proof is 3 November 2008.
The Health Professions Council has launched its consultation on the revised standards of education and training (SETs) and revised standards of education and training guidance. The deadline for responding to the consultation is 14 November 2008.
UNISON has responded to the Health Professions Council (HPC) Consultation on Annual Registration and Scrutiny Fees in July 2008.
From 31 July 2008 Dental Nurses and Technicians have to be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
