Pay & conditions
If you work for the Probation Service in England and Wales, your pay and conditions are negotiated at the Probation Service National Negotiating Council (NNC).
UNISON sits alongside our sister union, Napo, on the Trade Union Side of the NNC. We submit claims to the Employers on the NNC for improvements in your pay and conditions
The NNC negotiates a Handbook of terms and conditions which applies in full to every Probation employee.
All Probation jobs have been evaluated under the NNC Job Evaluation Scheme (a job ranking process) and then placed on one of the 6 NNC pay bands. You can find details of the latest pay arrangements that apply on the Probation Association website:
Probation AssociationIf you have any questions about your pay and conditions, you should raise these with your local UNISON representative or UNISON branch.
UNISON and Napo have submitted the following pay claim for 2011/12 to the Probation National Negotiating Council.
The Police and Justice Conference 2012 will take place on Thursday 11 October to Saturday 13 October 2012 at Cardiff City Hall.
