Primary CareProfound changes are taking place in the NHS. Across England, NHS organisations have been told by the Government that they have to rapidly pay off their debts, often acquired through PFI and LIFT, and are having to cut jobs and services in order to meet this target. At the same time, the government is pushing through a huge range of untested proposals into primary care. These reforms are guided by the frameworks, targets and deadlines set out in Commissioning a Patient-led NHS and the health and social care White Paper 'Our Health, Our Care, Our Say'. UNISON believes that these reforms hold major risks, not just to the employment rights and security of members, but for the future of the NHS as a publicly owned and operated resource, providing healthcare free to all UK residents.Primary care latestSocial Enterprises in Primary CareUNISON has commissioned research from Durham University to look into the impact of social enterprises in primary care.Your local primary care trust - Our primary concern: UNISON campaign pack, Summer 2007(09/07/07) UNISON’s primary care campaign materials are designed to assist in your local campaigning, whether you are intending an immediate, broad campaign on the general theme of reform and marketisation, or to influence local decision-making on particular areas of service provision.
