Vote against hate on 4 June - be bothered!
The racist and homophobic BNP is hoping to win seats in the European Parliament in the elections on Thursday 4th June. UNISON is proud of our opposition to the BNP but every member needs to act. If people don't bother to vote this thursday, it increases the BNP's chance of winning. 2009 LGBT conference - Cardiff, 20-22 November
The bulletin about this year's UNISON LGBT conference has now been sent to branches. The bulletin includes all information on how to get to conference and forms for submitting motions, making nominations, registering delegates and visitors and so on. Deadline for motions is 31 July; deadline for delegate registration is 25 September. The full bulletin is online at:

Bi and trans network meetings - London, 10 July; Black LGBT members - London, 11 September; Disabled LGBT members - London, 12 September
To make sure that all voices in our LGBT group are heard, we hold annual meetings for bi and trans members and for black and disabled LGBT members. They include updates and speakers, discussions and decisions on motions to national LGBT conference. If you are a bi, trans, black or disabled LGBT member, come along to your network meeting - there's no other qualification to attend. Your travel costs will be paid by UNISON centrally. More at:

Workplace bullying survey
Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect at work. Workplace bullying and harassment prevents this happening and should not be tolerated. To find the extent of the problem, UNISON is surveying members. You are urged to complete the confidential online survey, whether or not you have been bullied at work. It's at:

UNISON LGBT recruitment campaign
Every worker should be in a union - and LGBT workers need their unions more than anyone. There are new materials to help you recruit people into the union - whether in your workplace, out and about at local groups and venues, or at Pride events. They will be backed up by an advertising campaign in LGBT media over the summer months. Details of the new materials at:

ILGA launches 2009 report on state sponsored homophobia
ILGA, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Association, has launched its latest report on state sponsored homophobia and will soon be issuing an updated version of its very well-received world map of LGB rights. ILGA is always in desperate need of money to fund its vital work - regions and branches are urged to make a donation. Details on all this at:

Broken Rainbow seeks helpline volunteers
Broken Rainbow LGBT Domestic Violence Service (UK) provides a helpline service to all LGBT people, their family and friends around the issue of domestic violence. They are looking for LGBT people to volunteer to staff the phones, particularly on Monday and Thursday afternoons and/or evenings and Wednesday mornings. More at:

Commission funding for voluntary and community sector
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced a £10.2 million Strategic Funding Programme, providing three-year project-based funding of up to £450,000 for community and voluntary sector organisations. Deadline for applications is 12 June. Full details at:
