In an announcement on Tuesday 25th March 2008, the Boarder and Immigration Agency (BIA) have clarified transitional measures for senior care workers who were “unable to extend their permission to stay in the United Kingdom within the normal time limit”.

UNISON WINS MAJOR EQUAL PAY VICTORY AS SCHOOL CLEANERS ACROSS NORTHERN IRELAND RISE TO THE HIGHEST CLEANING RATES IN THE UK

After 6 years of protest, negotiations and threatened strike action more than 5000 school cleaners have won a landmark equal pay increase and 6 years back pay.  For most of the women this will amount to several thousand pounds back pay.
