Probation talks break down

Talks between the National Negotiating Committee (that negotiates terms and conditions for members working in probation) broke down on 20 November after the Ministry of Justice announced it wanted to withdraw all the gains that had been previously negotiated.

It was not possible for the NNC trade union side (UNISON and Napo) to agree the final deal offered even though some of the losses were recouped.

The union will now register a trade dispute, a requirement before an industrial action ballot can be run.
