A new headquarters for UNISON

UNISON has got the go ahead to start work on its new headquarters on the site of the former Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital in London.

Following the decision by Camden Council on 28 February to grant planning permission, UNISON is ready to start work on the centre, which will regenerate the site, providing a pleasant place to work and local affordable housing.

Based just 200 metres from the existing head office in Mabledon Place, the site is close to Euston, Kings Cross, and the newly revamped St Pancras station.

UNISON has exciting plans for the new site, including:

  • A new office building for the union's staff, including a central atrium with a glazed roof
  • Restoring the former Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital building, bringing it back to its full Victorian splendour
  • 47 apartments providing both affordable and private accommodation, including two storey and four storey mews houses
  • An exhibition space to commemorate the life and work of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson
