2004 local government pay claim timetable

Below is the timetable for the 2004 local government pay claim (England, Wales and Northern Ireland).

Mid-end October 2003: The Local Government Pay Commission announces its recommendations.

Thursday 13 November 2003: The national local government committee meets to consider these recommendations and initiate consultation on the contents of the 2004 pay claim.

Friday 10 January 2003: Deadline for regional responses on the contents of the 2004 pay claim.

Week beginning 12 January 2004: The national local government committee meets to consider the results of the consultation and agree a claim to present to the other trade unions.

January 2004: Pay claim agreed by the NJC trade union side.

Week beginning 19/26 January 2004: Claim lodged with the employers.

February 2004: Employers consult on claim and offer.

March 2004: Negotiations with employers.

1 April 2004: Settlement date.
