Ofsted

UNISON Ofsted Forum welcomes all members, including those who have transferred from CSCI to the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills known as Ofsted. UNISON has the biggest membership of the three trade unions recognised by Ofsted, and we represent members across all grades in the organisation.

Ofsted dispute: member consultation on way forward

(9/7/08) We have learned that last year Ofsted posted an £8.6M underspend and Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector enjoyed a 21% salary increase.  Meanwhile the cost of living continues to escalate. UNISON is now consulting members on the dispute and what further action they may want to take.

Hold tight as Ofsted steps up the pressure

(20/6/08) As the second wave of industrial action short of strike enters another week it is clear that Ofsted management are starting to feel the pressure. This is reflected in their attempts to clamp down on members over travel arrangements. In any dispute as the action escalates it is to be expected that management seek to put pressure on union members to weaken support. This advice is intended to help members hold tight and stand firm.

(13/6/08) It has come to the attention of UNISON that Ofsted management are denying some of our members the use of a hire car if the request is due to the action short of strike planned from Monday 16 June.

UPDATE on talks, further call to ACTION

The first wave of industrial action in Ofsted secured a further meeting with management. While we wait to see if these initial talks produce any movement a further wave of action short of strike will start on Monday 16 June.
