(24/8/10) On the day that GCSE results come out, UNISON, the UK’s leading public sector union, is warning that falling footfall in libraries is a worrying trend, sparked off by service cuts and closures, that will hit students of tomorrow hard.
Culture Minister Ed Vaizey announced the first ten areas to join the future library programme. Communities around the country will have the chance to test drive an ambitious change programme for libraries.

MPs have tabled an Early Day Motion welcoming UNISON's 'Love Your Libraries' campaign, and applauding the essential contribution UK libraries and library staff have made to the social, cultural and economic well-being of our communities for the past 150 years.
UNISON has submitted our response, following member consultation. The Review is expected to respond in the Spring.
